Empowering young minds in a child-centered community
Himalayan International Academy
Himalayan International Academy (HIA), established in 2021, is an emerging international school in the Koiwa area of Edogawa, Tokyo, founded by the Nepalese community and following Nepal’s national curriculum while fostering cross-cultural understanding. Easily accessible via the JR Sobu and Keisei Lines, HIA serves a diverse student body and currently offers early childhood education through Grade 9, with plans to extend through Grade 12. The school emphasizes holistic student development by nurturing multilingual abilities, cognitive growth, mutual respect, and critical thinking. Through its commitment to diversity among students and faculty, HIA aims to create a global learning environment that prepares learners for success in an increasingly interconnected world.
Friendly Teachers
Our professional yet friendly teachers ensure that children enjoy the class and help them to learn more effectively.
Safe Environment
A school is a child’s second home, so we have created a healthy, protective, and friendly environment.
Learn with Fun
We look for ways to make learning fun, accessible, and meaningful. If learning isn’t fun, it won’t be effective.
Academic Levels
HIA is committed to providing a platform that meets the unique educational needs, interests, goals, and aspirations of each student. The school currently runs four academic levels: Kindergarten, Elementary, Junior High School, and High School. We plan to extend the program through Grade 12.

Kindergarten
Our kindergarten is fully based on Montessori practice introduced by Maria Montessori. Learning is based on the activities and tasks conducted by students. The teacher acts more as a guide than as an instructor.

Elementary
The Elementary Level refers to the first years of compulsory schooling. It includes Grade 1 through Grade 5, typically for children aged 6 to 11 years. At this stage, students build foundational skills.

Junior High School
Grade 6 to Grade 8
HIA provides a nurturing, challenging environment supporting students aged 10 and above through upper primary and middle school transitions.

High School
Our Grade 9 program builds on Lower Secondary foundations, offering deeper learning and greater rigor to prepare students for advanced studies ahead.
